TTT: Series That I Don’t Plan On Finishing

Top ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by Jana over at That Artsy Reader. This weeks prompt is “Series That I Don’t Plan On Finishing”. I had some trouble thinking of my answers for this one, so I stuck to 5 instead of 10. What are some series you don’t plan on finishing?

1. Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland series by Lewis Carroll

I know this entry may upset some people, but these books were just too wacky and nightmare fueled for my adult self. I may have enjoyed them as a kid (though I don’t believe I would have) but this series is one I don’t plan on finishing in the future.

223285462. The Red Queen series by Victoria Aveyard

The heroine was not my favorite, and I thought the storyline relied on tropes that I have seen done multiple times before. After reading so many books with a similar storyline I don’t really feel the need to continue on with this series.

3. The Selection series by Kiera Cass

I believe everyone who has read this series agrees that it should have ended after book 3. After reading book 4, I made the decision to not continue on with the series that I had previously enjoyed.

4. The Forest of Hands and Teeth series by Carrie Ryan6518042

Zombies aren’t my thing (I’m terrified of the prospect of them), and neither are questionable unhappy endings. While I enjoyed the story while I was reading, I don’t see myself continuing on with the series.

5. Delirium series by Lauren Oliver

I didn’t really feel connected to the characters in this series which is why I don’t think I’ll be continuing on (plus its been so long since I read the first one I kind of forget what it’s about haha).

TTT: Best Character Names

Top ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by Jana over at That Artsy Reader. This weeks prompt is Best Character Names! I’ve cut the list down to five this week, so feel free to chime in the comments if there’s one you guys think so make the list!

1. Celaena / Aelin – from Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

*Spoilers if you haven’t read Throne of Glass!* I absolutely love the change of names between Celaena, which means “the dark one” in Greek, and Aelin, which can mean “light” or “strong.” I think the name change really reflects the personality between the two!

2. Mr. Kindly – from Nevernight by Jay Kristoff

What a wonderful name for a shadow cat/darking/fear-eater creature. Every time I hera the name it makes me want to smile.

3. Victor Vale – from Vicious by V. E. Schwab

What a perfect super-villain/superhero name. Vicious is one of my favorite superhero books, and it has some names to match the villainous characters.

4. Lazlo Strange – from Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor

Such a whimsical name for a whimsical character! The name was just one more enchanting thing in this absolutely enchanting book.

5. Wade Watts / Parzival – from Ready Player One by Ernest Cline

Another superhero-sounding name that I absolutely love. The username of Parzival adds another fun element with the reference to King Arthur that I really appreciate.
