Burn, Rewrite, Reread Book Tag

I found this cool tag on Book Princess Reviews and decided to give it a try!

The links in each round connect to the Goodreads so you can check the books out for yourself!

  • Randomly choose 3 books (Tip: Use the “Sort > Random” option on your Goodreads’ Read shelf.).
  • For each group, decide which book to burn, which one to rewrite, and which to reread (a lot like Kiss, Marry, Kill).
  • Repeat until you completed three rounds.
Disclaimer: I would never actually burn a book!

Burn: I have to go with Her Mad Hatter for this one.  This book was a nice Alice/Mad Hatter romance novel, and it was a quick mindless romance between hardcore fantasies.

Rewrite: I would rewrite A Rogue By Any Other Name. As with most romance novels, there are a few points that I believe could be expanded and changed. Overall, Sarah MacLean is one of my favorite period romance writers, and I thoroughly enjoy everything she writes.

Reread: I absolutely love the Mercy Thompson series, and will gladly reread it! Silver Borne is not my favorite in the series, but still an interesting mini mystery within it. The continuation of this series, with the change of the world as well as personal problems always intrigues me. If you haven’t checked it out yet, definitely do! The latest one in the series is one of my favorites!

Burn: I know that I’ll probably get some flack for this, but I didn’t really enjoy The Fifth Wave. It may have something to do with my fear of Alien invasions/Zombie Apocalypse. It may also be the strange POV flips that kept happening and confusing me throughout the book. Just not my favorite read.

Rewrite: I found this series while trolling Amazon for cheap eBooks, and I found it interesting. The world of the Significance series made me hope to find my true love through imprinting (but let’s be honest, so does every paranormal romance ever written). It was a nice YA read, but as with most cheap eBooks that are an author’s first foray into young adult, it could’ve used some extra editing and dialogue boost.

Reread: The Gregor the Overlander series is one of my favorite from my childhood. I far prefer it to Suzanne Collins’ other series, the Hunger Games, and would love to reread it again. The Underworld is so interesting, and the story of Gregor so mesmerizing that I could not put it down. This is bringing back so much nostalgia, I want to pick this series up again!

Burn: BURN BURN I absolutely did not like Someone to Love. This book I found very protagonist very childish and immature, and could not like her at all. The romance also seemed very stale, and I really wish I hadn’t wasted so much time trying to slug through this book.

Rewrite: While I really enjoyed The City of Ember, I feel like the author could have done a lot more in exploring the underground society. So many things are happening underground that we don’t really have time to explore before the rest of the series takes the narrative lead.

Reread: The Kricket Series is one of my favorite. I definitely don’t think that we are alone in the universe, and Kricket’s exploration of her heritage as she discovers this other planet for herself was enchanting and a quick read.

Feel free to do this tag! It was super fun and made me remember some books I haven’t thought about in years. Thanks for reading!
